About

Welcome to The Mhelting Pot!

Hello! My name is Michaela. I currently write features for MovieJawn, and have blogged for a long time on sites like Boss Rush Network and Zelda Dungeon. Now, I’m managing a website of my own!

The Mhelting Pot is dedicated to my wildly varying interests and projects, ranging from movies and shows to video games and hobbies like writing, reading, drawing, and more. The blog’s name was inspired by my first, middle, and last initials (M, H, and E) and the principles of the “melting pot” in American culture. This website is a hub for all the hobbies I enjoy most, while also being a portfolio for my career.

About my education and work

I currently work as a Digital Marketing Coordinator at Northern Arizona University. I graduated with a major in Visual Communication, an emphasis in Web Design, and a minor in English. As an undergraduate student, I edited and wrote for The Tunnels, a student-managed website that featured academic essays, poetry, creative nonfiction, and more.

I have eight years of marketing and writing experience and have worked in various sectors, including tourism, marketing, construction, and higher education. In my current role, I support all website initiatives for Northern Arizona University, ensuring that all content is optimized for the web and is engaging for our desired audience. In addition to my work, I have written creatively for entertainment websites such as Zelda Dungeon and Boss Rush Network, and I am currently writing for Movie Jawn.

I completed my Master’s degree in Professional Writing in the fall of 2024. With this Master’s degree, I have continued to hone my writing skills and developed a keen eye for content strategy and optimization. I used this expertise to support the launch of NAU’s new website in 2025, which was created with an emphasis on student recruitment and retention. We also focused on user experience, making sure the website navigation is intuitive and the content is easy to read and understand.
